Photo Zines - Sample Schedule
Photo Zines — Concept to Creation is an project-based workshop that meets weekly online four times. Three of these sessions are with the large group of photographer participants. One of these sessions is a small working group of 4-5 photographers. All sessions are recorded. Here is a sample schedule with curricular topics:
Session I
- Participant introductions
- Overview: workshop goals and schedule
- Discussion: tools and software
- Presentation: What is a zine? with sample photo zines
- Assignment
Session II
- Group check-in regarding assignment
- Presentation: sample photo zines (part II)
- Presentation: Image pairings and spreads
- Short break
- Presentation: Designing your zine with emphasis on sequencing & flow
- Brief introduction to print resources
- Discussion, Q&A, and preparation for Session III small groups
Session III
Each photographer presents their in-progress project for feedback from Ted and fellow photographers. Ted meets with each small group, which consists of 2-5 photographers.
Session IV
- Demo & Discussion: editing and image file prep considerations
- Presentation: print resources (part II) and key considerations
- Q&A and wrap-up
