*For Session III, you will sign up for a small working group session designed for sharing in-progress ideas with peers for feedback. You’ll be invited to sign up for a small group time prior to the Session I start date.


KEY COMPONENTS AND CONTENT

• A brief survey of sample photo zines and books to inspire and provide context for your project.

• Presentation and dialogue about zine concepts, image selection and pairing, sequencing, layout, printing, and more.

• Prompts and thought exercises to workshop ideas and refine your vision.

• Three large group meetings and one small group meeting. See sample curriculum. All meetings will occur online. For the small group session, you’ll meet with Ted and 2-4 other photographers to present in-progress ideas and gain feedback. 

• Guidance, recommendations, and resources for design templates and tools, software, printers, and distribution.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Photographers interested in organizing a small body of work into a thoughtful, cohesive product. All experience levels are welcome!
Whether you are a novice or seasoned photographer, you can expect to take away new insights and knowledge.

Limited to 20 participants.

Required equipment and materials:
- Computer, laptop or tablet with internet connection
- Zoom software and account (access free of charge at zoom.com)

The ideal experience involves attending the live weekly sessions. We realize that unavoidable circumstances may arise. Recordings of all sessions as well as additional resources will be shared promptly with all participants.

We may photograph select workshop experiences for future use. The workshop registration form will include photo release information.

We’re committed to producing high-quality experiences. Online sessions bring potentially unique challenges, such as varied internet speeds, traffic on Zoom servers, and the performance of each participant’s hardware. We’ll do our best to support the ideal experience for each participant.

Ted Forbes, the celebrated creator of The Art of Photography on YouTube, is a leading figure in photography education. In addition to making several publications of his own work, Ted has reviewed hundreds of photo zines and books during his popular “Mail Time” series on the channel. Learn more about Ted.

FEE INFORMATION
Payment is due in full to secure your spot for the Photo Zines workshop.

CANCELLATION & REFUNDS
Cancel by February 7 for the first workshop or March 14 for the second workshop, and all fees will be refunded less 10% for administrative fees.

Cancel less than seven days before the start of either workshop and no refund will be given.

All refund requests must be submitted via email to studio@tedforbes.com. On occasion, a course may cancel due to low enrollment or unforeseen conflicts. If such a case occurs, all participants will be refunded in full.
